To identify the Best Colleges in North Carolina for 2019 we averaged the results from the most respected college ranking systems (Niche.com + US News & World Report) from around the web to produce an entirely unique CollegeReviews Score for each school. And then ordered the schools based on that ranking. You won’t find a more exhaustive ranking of the best colleges and universities in North Carolina anywhere.

North Carolina made history by opening the first public university in the United States, the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Today the state boasts over 200 colleges including many public schools under the University of North Carolina System.

Several colleges in North Carolina are well-known historically black colleges and universities such as North Carolina A & T State University, North Carolina Central University and Winston-Salem State University. After UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University located in nearby Raleigh-Durham and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem are probably the most well-known schools in the state.
