To identify the Best Colleges in Kentucky for 2019 we averaged the results from the most respected college ranking systems (Niche.com + US News & World Report) from around the web to produce an entirely unique CollegeReviews Score for each school. And then ordered the schools based on that ranking. You won’t find a more exhaustive ranking of the best colleges and universities in Kentucky anywhere.

Kentucky has over 125 colleges and universities as well. The state hosts two major research institutions: University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky, a consistently top-ranked school. Also high on the list of best colleges are Kentucky State University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, and University of Kentucky.

Liberal art school Berea College, the first coeducational college in the South to admit both black and white students. There are an additional 16 public two-year colleges in Kentucky under the umbrella of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

One quarter of the state’s population calls Louisville home so it’s no surprise the highest concentration of post secondary schools is found there including Bellarmine University, the largest traditional non-profit private school in Kentucky, and Sullivan University, Louisville a career-focused university. Many of the other Kentucky colleges are located in Lexington and Owensboro, two other major cities.

Our methodology for determining the best colleges in Kentucky takes both editorial rankings from US News & World Report, Times Higher Education and combines it with student rankings from Niche.com. We weight student rankings higher giving them about a 80% weighted score vs editorial rankings. Thus creating a more accurate viewpoint of the best colleges in any given state.
